Farmers protest
TOBA TEK SINGH: Farmers belonging to Chak 320/GB, Pirmahal, on Sunday staged a demonstration against non-payment of their compensation by the National Highway Authority. The farmers chanted slogans against the NHA and the government and said that the NHA had acquired a farmland from them for the construction of Pirmahal Interchange on Peshawar-Lahore-Karachi Motorway but did not pay them. Later, Pirmahal AC Khalid Mahmood held talks with the protesters and assured them that the NHA high ups would be contacted on Monday (today) to ask them to pay their compensation money at the earliest. At this, the protesters ended their protest. Villager shot dead: A villager was shot dead at Chak 700/42-GB, Pirmahal, on Saturday night. Irshad was sleeping in his outhouse when some unidentified accused shot him dead. Police have registered a case.
