CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that controlling of problems like energy crisis, terrorism, extremism and sectarianism is essential for rapid development of the country. He said the Pakistan Muslim League-N government is taking effective steps for resolving energy crisis and ending terror and positive results are being witnessed.
He said trade, economic and industrial activities were increasing due to solid economic policies of the government and confidence of foreign investors had restored. He stated that development projects were being completed with speed and transparency while a high standard was also being maintained. He said the goal of progress and prosperity would be realised through hard work and commitment.
Talking to elected representatives of various districts who called on him, here, Tuesday, Shahbaz Sharif said that besides coping with terror, the government was also paying attention to development of education, health and other social sectors. He said the government had adopted a strategy to promote education and Punjab Higher Education Commission had been established in the province for the promotion of higher education.
The chief minister said billions of rupees were being spent on provision of missing facilities to public sector schools. He said total volume of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund had increased up to Rs12 billion and scholarships were being given from its income to more than 65,000 deserving but brilliant students. He said reforms were being introduced in health sector with the cooperation of British Department for International Development (DFID). He said special attention was being paid to mother and child health. He said modern training was being imparted to health workers on the pattern of teachers training programme. He said mobile health unit project had been highly successful in providing modern treatment facilities to the people of remote areas.
He said latest healthcare facilities were being extended to the patients in state-of-the-art Tayyip Erdogan Hospital set up in district Muzaffargarh with the cooperation of Turkey and people of remote areas were also benefiting from this hospital.
Shahbaz Sharif said a corruption-free culture had been promoted in Punjab and all development projects were being completed speedily and transparently while a high standard was also being maintained. He said that transparency, speed and standard were the hallmark of the Punjab government.
