ISLAMABAD: The Investigation Wing of Islamabad Police has arrested the person involved in murder of driver of Careem Cab service and also recovered snatched vehicle from him.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Zubair Ahmed Sheikh said that a Careem Cab (Wagon-R, ICT, AEG-658) was booked by unidentified persons on February 22, 2018 from Sector F-11 near Shaheen Chemist. These unidentified persons shot dead the driver and sped away along with snatched vehicle.
The deceased was later identified as Junaid Mustafa and Golra police registered the case ( FIR # 85) under sections 392/302 PPC following complaint of his brother Sohail Mustafa resident of Rawalpindi.
The cab drivers of Careem Service also protested in the city and Inspectors General of Police Islamabad Dr Sultan Azam Temuri, SSP Islamabad Najeeb-Ur-Rehman assigned task to SP (Investigation) Zubair Ahmed to arrest the perpetrators of this act. He constituted a team including In-Charge ACLC Inspector Anees Akbar, Inspector Muhammad Raiz, Sub-Inspector Tariq Rauf, ASIs Muhammad Ashraf, Akram Ranjha, Zulfqar Ali, and Kamal Khan along with others.
The police team got the mobile phone number used to hire the cab and started search of criminals. It succeeded to arrest the alleged killer Atta Ullah and recovered a Honda Civic Car (ACY-781) which he snatched from Haider Ali s/o Asghar Ali on February 11, 2018 in sector F-10/4.
During the preliminary investigation, he confessed his involvement in several incidents of snatching cars along with his accomplices.
SP (Investigation) Zubair Ahmed Sheikh told that CIA police arrested three accused involved in looting picnickers at Shakarparian and recovered two pistols from them.
They have been identified as Sheeraz Khan, Arshad Rehman and Hassan Khan. Two cases each have been already registered against them at Baharakhau and Aabpara police stations. Further investigation is underway in their cases.
SSP Islamabad has appreciated this performance of Investigation Wing and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for them. He has also recommended their names to IGP Sultan Azam Temuri for further award.
