Yu-Yun outplays Maheen to lift ITF title
ISLAMABAD: Top seed Yu-Yun Li of Chinese Taipei outplayed Pakistan’s Maheen Qureshi 6-3, 6-1 to lift the girls’ singles title in the Syed Tajammul Abbas ITF Pakistan World Junior Ranking Tennis Championships here at the S Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex on Friday.The second seeded Pakistani stayed neck and neck with her opponent till 2-2 in the first set. However, Yu-Yun broke Maheen in the sixth game and never looked back after that.
After winning the first set, the top seed was in full control of the proceedings. Maheen managed to take just one game from her opponent in the second set.Mathew Yee of Hong Kong and Muhammad Nouman Aftab of Pakistan defeated Rattanan Siritaworchar of Thailand and Suresh Darrshan of Malaysia 6-3, 6-1 to bag the boys’ doubles title.
Senator Syed Dilawar Abbas, patron of the Pakistan Tennis Federation and senior vice president of the Asian Tennis Federation, awarded the trophies to Yu-Yun and Maheen.The boys’ singles final be played today.
