Karachi University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan has said that parents who cannot afford quality education for their children need to be supported.
The growth of the country would be ensured when children have access to quality education, he said, while addressing a ceremony to distribute laptops and gifts to children of KU employees.
The ceremony was organised by the varsity’s Employees Forum at the Arts Faculty’s Auditorium on Friday. The VC said education was the baseline for development, and imparting quality education to the children of KU employees would be encouraged.
He stressed that these children should not be deprived of higher education due to financial constraints, and the university would give all possible assistance to poor KU employees to enable them to provide quality education to their children.
He further said that if we want to compete and place ourselves with the developed nations of the world, we need to give top priority to education. Hhe called for promoting science and technology to meet the challenges of the modern era.
Prof Dr Majid Mumtaz, chairman of the Chemistry Department at KU, said that without education we cannot achieve our goals, and if we want to uplift our society, we need to focus on the quality of education and such positive social activities must be encouraged on the campus.
