Judiciary tainted by Punishing politicians, letting dictators decamp
LAHORE: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday said that Nawaz Sharif wanted a clash of institutions but he couldn’t escape accountability this time.
The PPP chairman also said that the stigma on judiciary could only be removed only if former dictator Pervez Musharraf and other dictators were also tried. He said that that it would reflect poorly if decisions were taken against politicians and not against military dictators.
Talking to the media after visiting the residence of renowned columnist the late Munnu Bhai and also addressing his party stalwarts during his visit to Punjab office at Model Town, Bilawa said like Nawaz, former President Pervez Musharraf should also be held accountable for his deeds, adding same law should exist for everyone. He said if Musharraf was spared, the narrative of Nawaz Sharif would get stronger. He said the former prime minister wanted a constitutional crisis in the country but the PPP was hopeful that there would be no harm to the system.
The PPP chairman sarcastically said that during the last four years the entire nation saw the respect Nawaz had shown to the ballot and parliament, adding he would be defeated in the next polls. He said Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification wasn’t the issue of the common man as the nation’s real issues were health and education.
Bilawal said that Nawaz Sharif was known for staging dramas but the nation couldn’t be fooled anymore. He also said that the Zia ul Haq’s martial law and later the elements whom he nursed devastated the progressive Punjab. He said neither PPP wanted the capitalist system of Nawaz Sharif who dreamed of becoming Ameer ul Momineen nor any system under a person like Imran Khan who relied on people like Jehangir Tareen.
Meanwhile, The PPP chairman also suggested naming the Thalassemia centre of Badin district after the late Munnu Bhai in recognition of his services for the children suffering from the disease. He said Munnu Bhai’s services in the field of journalism and literature were tremendous.
