‘Gilgit-Baltistan gateway to CPEC’
LAHORE: Minister for Tourism Gilgit-Baltistan Fida Khan has said that Gilgit-Baltistan is the gateway to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and in this context, it is an open market for the investors, particularly those associated with tourism, a statement said on Thursday.
Speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), he said there is a great scope for investment in building resorts, food streets, hotels, chairlifts, paragliding, polo clubs, dried fruit industry in Gilgit-Baltistan.
LCCI President Tahir Javaid said tourism sector should be promoted as revenue booster and employment generator, as this industry of Pakistan has huge untapped economic potential.
Total contribution of travel and tourism industry in the global economy is more than $7.6 trillion, but in Pakistan, this sector has failed to produce desired results.
