Chinese workers honoured
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Advisor and Chairman of the steering committee for Orange Line Metro Train Project Khawaja Ahmad Hassan Friday hosted a lunch in the hounour of Chinese engineers working for the project.
He said Chinese engineers were playing role for development of Pakistan and their services would strengthen relationship between the two countries. The banquet was arranged on behalf of the Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif to congratulate the Chinese workers on new Chinese year.
Khawaja Ahmad said New Year was an occasion of family reunion but the Chinese working in Pakistan had sacrificed it for a greater cause. They feel like a family here in Pakistan, he said. China Deputy Consul General in Lahore Wang thanked the Punjab CM and Khawaja Ahmad Hassan for hosting the banquet.
MPA Ch Shahbaz, Lahore Commissioner Abdullah Sumbal, Mayor Mubashir Javed, Capital City Police Officer Caption (r) Amin Wense, LDA Director General Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Deputy Commissioner Sumair Ali Sayed, Punjab Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Sibtain Fazal-e-Azeem, representatives of the Chinese contractor CR-NORINCO, China Engineering Consultant and a large number of Chinese engineers attended.
seminar: The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC) University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Friday organised a seminar on “Patent Drafting and Filing Techniques” for faculty members and researchers.
Patent Attorney Saad Nasrullah was the resource person of the seminar. He highlighted aspects of patent drafting, filing techniques and intellectual property rights. The purpose of the seminar was to familiarise faculty members and researchers with the drafting of a patent application.
University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani chaired the inaugural session. He said patent documentation was required in innovation research especially in the development of livestock in Pakistan. The countries which manage their intellectual assets properly obtain prominent stature among the nations, he added.
Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation Director Dr Hafsa Zainab also addressed the seminar. A number of faculty members and students attended the seminar. Meanwhile, UVAS Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology in collaboration with Punjab Agriculture Research Board (PARB) and Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad is organising a two-day “International Conference on Omics for Animal Sciences: Opportunities and Challenges” at City Campus on 20 Feb.
Renowned academicians, researchers, biotechnologists from public and private organisations and experts from different countries including Malaysia, China, India, Brazil and Turkey as well as Pakistan will participate. Minister for Labour and Human Resources Raja Ashfaq Sarwar will chair the inaugural session.
