While the unexpected NA-154 result has raised many eyebrows, the incident has hinted at the fact that the PML-N hasn’t lost its popularity. There is no doubt that the victory is a big political boost for the PML-N, but there is still room for improvement. Similarly, the PTI must review its political strategy and come up with a robust approach to win the general elections. The recent defeat in by-elections in a constituency that it had won earlier is certainly a big political blow to its claim of being the most popular political party in the country. Since the general elections are only a few months away, the Imran Khan-led party must work in an efficient manner to win back the confidence of voters.
Nawaz Sharif has often being criticised for his current campaigns in which he openly expresses his anger over his ouster. However, a large crowd at his public gatherings bears witness to his increasing popularity in the country. On the other hand, the PTI should learn lessons from this defeat. The general elections will not be a smooth sailing for the PTI which is otherwise confident of sweeping the elections.
