Of a courageous girl and influence of criminal elements

The people who come out against cruelty, repression and immoralities are worthy to be idealised and followed. There are only a few in society who refuse to concede to the prevailing immoral activities by ignoring consequences despite the fact that criminal elements leave no stone unturned to punish them for their endeavours to expose their activities.
The corrupt mafia has become so strong in our society that whenever a person raises voice against it, it retaliates through poisonous campaign against him or her, leaving no option for him or her but to focus on defence and prove his or her own innocence. There are a few instances when voices raised against cruelty, falsehood and repression have got access to the ruling elite and have got justice. It has been noticed that in our part of the world police play a frontline role for these corrupt and crooked elements of society and obstruct way for the innocent people to convey their messages to the power corridors. With the connivance of police, the corrupt elements manage to suppress innocent people and series of cruelties and repression emerge as norms in society.
Here is a tale of courageous girl who raised her voice against a woman who had lured her to lead a sinful life with immoral practices. The girl decided to throw away the shackles of the ‘evil woman’ to play her role for protecting other girls from nefarious activities of such elements.
Despite severe threats from the ‘fake lady doctor’ and her network, the girl did not hesitate to expose this heinous network and contacted ‘The News’ to seek assistance to convey her message to the ruling elite.
Sharing her tragic tale, the girl disclosed that when she returned from the UK after completion of her education, she coincidentally met the ‘madam’. The shrewd woman got very close to the girl through her apparently sympathetic attitude. With the passage of time, the woman managed to meet the girl in isolation and lured her to get into an immoral and unnatural relationship.
Later, when the girl resisted these immoral and sinful practices, the woman threatened the girl and blackmailed her to continue ugly practices. On resistance of the girl, the ‘madam’ threatened the girl that she would dispatch her nude pictures to her family. In short, the woman managed to trap the girl and used her for immoral and sinful acts.
The ‘fake lady doctor’ not only enticed the girl to establish homosexual practices but also used her to lure innocent girls of different colleges and universities.
This is second time during my 35-year journalistic career that intensity of the issue made me hesitated to identify prevalent social evils in society — first time when I exposed ‘Madam Tahira’ scandal in 1991-92 and second time when I exposed this heinous gang being run by a ‘fake lady doctor’.
Exposing ‘Madam Tahira’ scandal in early 1991-92, I was fearful as some senior parliamentarians were on back of ‘Madam Tahira’, but this time it was not fear but shame that made me cripple to expose the face of this ‘fake lady doctor’. Having available audio and written evidences being provided by the victim girls, I was feeling ashamed to report these shameful practices.
I felt the intensity of these evil and shameful practices, this feeling made me think that if these sinful practices were not exposed, they would grip society like cancer. It is a coincident that the PML-N was in power in 1991-92 and even today PML-N is in power but the difference is there that the media at that time was limited but influential and today, despite a number of TV channels in the country, the corrupt mafias have also become very influential and strong.
Despite raising voice against these corrupt elements, the media has become ineffective to clampdown the corruption and corrupt mafia. Unprofessional and corrupt elements have also entered into the media with the sole objective of blackmailing and this corrupt mafia has put negative implications on the media as well.
The role of police in this case was quite disappointing. Instead of providing protection to the victim girl, police officials filed robbery and dacoity cases against the brother of the victim girl. Police raided the house of the girl at midnight and threatened them on the influence of ‘fake lady doctor’.
The SHO used to summon the victim girl and her brother to the police station late at night with threats to file cases against both of them.
Amidst this scenario, it would be unfair not to appreciate the role of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in this particular case.
If we criticise the government on any wrong decision, we should also appreciate good initiatives on part of the government. Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, in this particular case, took personal interest and instructed police officials to ensure investigation on merit. Initially, some police officials disobeyed orders of the minister and tried to complicate the case by providing favour to the ‘fake lady doctor’ but in the end the truth emerged victorious and cases were filed against the ‘fake lady doctor’ under sections of forgery and malpractices.
