An extra incentive
February 15, 2018
The Sindh government’s decision to increase the PhD allowance for university teachers from Rs10,000 to Rs25,000 should be welcomed. This step will serve to encourage university teachers who hold PhD degrees. Through this step, the research base in the province will be strengthened.
In the past, many university teachers didn’t opt for PhD degrees because they had no incentive to do so. This had a negative impact on the scope and nature of research work that was being carried out across Sindh. The provincial government has taken a laudable step by finally taken notice of the fact that government teachers should be provided monetary compensation for the good work that they are doing in their respective disciplines.
