Sports will bridgepolice-public gap: Addl IG
LAHORE: Pakistan Police Sports Board Director General, Additional IG Training and Recruitment Tariq Masood Yaseen said first national police games in Pakistan will be held at the end of this year to promote healthy activities.
He said sports would bridge the police-public gap and the awards to be given in the games would be named after police martyrs. He said new teams would be constituted with the help of former national and international champions. Top brass police officers would be appointed as patron for the supervision of games.
He was addressing a meeting in which former IG Punjab Shoukat Jawed, Ch Muhammad Yaqoob and Additional IG Syed Muhammad Abid Qadri were present. AIG training Maroof Safdar Wahla and sportsmen including Qasim Khan, Shehbaz Junior, Qazi Shaheen, Muhmmad Aslam Dogar, Muhammad Riaz, Mazhar Fareed, Ahsan-Ullah Tipo, Nasir Mehmood Khan, Mehmood-ul-Hassan, Malik Ejaz, Mian Liaqat Ali, Qadeer Bashir, Sharjeel Zia Butt, Fayaz Ahmed, Abdullah Jaan, Khawaja Sami-ud-Din, Malik Ejaz Kamboh, Raza Hussain, Saif-ur-Rehman, Mujahid Hussain, Khawaja Hassan Raza, Muhammad Salim Shehzad, Sheikh Adeel Hussain, Sohail Shehzad, Tahir Waheed, Syed Rashid Rafique, Musadiq Hanif, Imran Ali, Kashif Iftikhar, Nemat Ali, Irum Khanum, Shehzadi Gulfaam, Zain-ul-Abidin, Aqeel Butt and Ameer Mukhtar were present.
Tariq Masood said projects of sports complex and sports academy were launched for adequate training of the players. He said sports had been made compulsory subject for the training. Former IGs and other officers put up suggestions for the betterment of police teams in sports. Punjab former IG Chaudhary Muhammad Yaqoob emphasised upon regular competitions with police forces of different provinces at regional and district level.
Punjab former IG Sahaukat Javed said that projects of police force complex were the need of time and these projects should be completed. Additional IG (r) Syed Muhammad Abid Qadri suggested a one month practice of players participating in competitions.
Tariq Masood said coordination with local sports associations by colossal strategies for reducing scarcity of infrastructure would be enhanced so the players might improve their performance.
