Women’s role vital in boosting economy: speakers

LAHORE: The history of Pakistan shows that women have worked and competed with men in every field of life for the progress of the country. Women either educated or less educated both play an important role in the economy of the country. The only thing that is necessary in this context is providing them opportunity. Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI) Lahore division worked hard for providing platform to the women through which they opened the doors for their successful life. Business sector also appreciates the struggle of WCCI in this regard, said speakers at a seminar, “Top ten business opportunities for women”, organised by Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman Memorial Society (MKRMS) (Jang Group of Newspapers) and Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Lahore division for creating awareness among women.

Falahat Imran, president Women Chamber Lahore, Faiza Amjad, senior vice president Women Chamber Lahore, Shazia Salman, former WCCI president, Dr Shehla Javaid Akram, founder President Women Chamber Lahore, Anila Aslam, vice president Women Chamber Lahore and Qaisra Sheikh, ex-president Women Chamber of Commerce spoke at the seminar. Wasif Nagi, pride of performance, hosted the event. Khaleeq Hamid recited a Naat, and Rooba Hamayon recited Holy Quran.

Falahat Imran said women will get opportunity to start their own business through this platform of Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This seminar is the chain of this process in which ten new business entrepreneurs have been introduced so that they could consume their abilities.

The business women in women’s chamber proved themselves through their hard work that they are playing important role in economic progress of Pakistan, Falahat Imran said and thanked Saeed Ahmad, president National Bank of Pakistan, for his cooperation in organising the seminar.

Shazia Salman said Programmes have been started with the help of Punjab government for the maintenance of micro women living in backward areas. Under this programme, micro-ladies will be allowed to place stalls in Sunday markets, she said.

Wasif Nagi said Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Lahore division is a strong body but its utility should be for the women of all provinces because women of backward areas need to get awareness about modern ways. Women Chamber Lahore is doing well despite limited resources, he said.

Dr Shehla Javaid Akram said that she is so happy to see all the women in the event. Women should come forward because they are the most important part of our society, she added.

Qaisra Sheikh said Women Chamber Lahore is working for women’s economic progress and women are playing their part in making economy better. Sundas Mustafa, a working woman, said she is running a management company and it is a good business. Passion is an essential element for success in any business, she added.

Shamila Ismail, a working woman, said now women are working together with the men. She said she provides beauty services at home.

This is very useful source of earning and acceptable in society, she added. Anaza Ehsan Butt congratulated Women Chamber team for organising the seminar. She said thoughts are expressed through graphics in which different colours and techniques are used. “This all happens through research work. Messages are delivered to others through graphic designing. We all just need to recognise our hidden talent,” she said.

Furqan Amjad Sheikh said planning and management can enhance any business. He said he was working as a lawyer. Then one day he thought that he should start providing pick and drop service. He kept a driver and earned profit of almost fifty thousand rupees. He said he extended his business through proper planning.

Fouzia Waqar said promoting business for women and appreciating them is the prime motive of this seminar because most of the women need guidance.

Maliha Bangash said there is a need to work on legislation. Rahat-ul-Ain said: “We need to be practical rather than just speaking. We all should work together for this purpose,” she said.

Toshiba Sarwar said women are developing with the passage of time. Every person invests for fulfilling his dream that is his basic right.

Ali Hassan said business of solar energy is very good. People utilise it because it is very useful, he said. Nadia Saeed said she is running real estate business by the name of Landmark Women. Women should come forward to this business.

Saman said: “She is very happy to see the struggle of Women Chamber Lahore Division. Women are moving forward and they are doing well in their respective fields. Kashif congratulated Women Chamber for organising the seminar. —
