KARACHI: Rangers Cricket Club stormed into the final of the KCCA Zone VII ‘A’ Division League Cricket Tournament as they overpowered Pak Surti Cricket Club by four wickets in their last league outing here at the Annu Bhai Park the other day.
Babar Hussain cracked a brilliant hundred which tilted the balance in favour of Rangers CC in the high-scoring game in which as many as 531 runs were made off 79.1 overs.He struck a couple of sixes and 16 fours in his 121, dominating the 169-run second wicket partnership with Jawwad Ali, who scored 54 with the help of one six and five fours.
Amjad Khan’s two wickets in quick succession had opened up the game Rehan Sajid’s contribution of 46 helped Rangers CC in reaching the target of 268 on the first delivery of the final over with four wickets in hand.
Earlier, batting first, Pak Surti CC posted an impressive total of 267 for seven in the allotted 40 overs with Zakit Afridi (74), Mohammad Awais (54) and Shahmeer Khan (40 not out) being their leading scorers. Sadiq Ali got three wickets for Rangers CC.
