Protect children

The number of child sex abuse cases is rapidly increasing. Evidence from unimpeachable sources tells that around 11 children face sexual abuse on a daily basis. There are so many victims who suffer in silence and do not report the crime. The recent case involving the rape and murder of a seven-year-old in Kasur angered the entire nation. Cases of child sexual exploitation in the city have risen steadily in recent years. In 2015, the Kasur child abuse case was made public.

Some people were shamelessly making videos that showed the scenes of sexual abuse involving almost 300 children. No step was taken to apprehend the criminals. In fact, a couple of days after the brutal murder of Zainab, another such incident took place in Mardan. A four-year-old girl, Asma, was raped and murdered. Children in our country are living in an unsafe environment. We need to take concrete steps to deal with such cases. We must protect our children.
