Shahbaz says sit-in organisers against progress, not his govt
LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday described the politics of protest and chaos as a poison and said those pursuing the politics of sit-ins were not an enemy of his government but the progress of the nation.
The chief minister while talking to a PML-N delegation, said the sit-in group had done nothing except for wasting time of the people and they were afraid of speedy progress of the country. Had these elements served their people in their provinces, they would have no fear of facing the people, he added.
Shahbaz said the PML-N believed in politics of democratic traditions and public service, and the sit-in elements would again face defeat in 2018 general elections.
How those, who opted to visit hills for outing during the outbreak of dengue in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, could face the people, he remarked.
He said the sit-in group had broken all previous records of abuses and allegations, “but we will answer their abuses through public service”.
“These people will remain opposing development, but we will keep serving the masses,” said the chief minister.
Separately, Shahbaz and Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair condemned abusive words used against parliament.
As the governor called on the chief minister, they discussed matters related to the current political station. The Sherazi brothers of Thatta, Sindh, were also present on the occasion.
Shahbaz said the attitude of those insulting parliament was against democratic norms and they had increased the people’s problems through sit-ins.
Separately, Shahbaz, presiding over a meeting via video link, ordered to complete the investigation into the Zainab murder case at the earliest.
Directing the investigation team to speed up its effort, the chief minister expressed the hope that they would soon trace out the killer who could not escape the law.
