PESHAWAR: A labourer died during work at the Bus Rapid Transit Project early Thursday.
As per a police report, Subhan Iqbal, a resident of Dera Ghazi Khan, fell into a deep hole at Saddar during work at 2am.
An official of the East Cantonment Police Station, Jamal, told The News that the labourer, who belong to Punjab province, was rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital by the Rescue 1122, but he succumbed to his injuries. It was the second casualty of the BRT project in the city as earlier a motorcyclist died when he fell into the digging hole on the road.
The work on the BRT Project is going on in the city, but in some busy roads the digging holes are not well protected, which pose threat to motorcyclists and motorists. The locals said that the traffic police and construction companies should properly protect the deep digging holes to avoid such deadly incidents in future.
