LAHORE: Justice Ayesha A Malik of Lahore High Court on Thursday reserved the verdict on a petition challenging policy of B-form for students who have to appear in 9th class examination.

The judge earlier had reserved the judgment on the students’ petitions but later allowed request of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore to file reply. On Thursday, the board submitted the reply.

Petitioner students’ counsel Sheraz Zaka submitted that this restriction of B-form had been imposed for 9th Class students. He said when a student appeared in examinations of Class 5th and 8th there was no requirement of submission of B-Form. He said the requirement of B-form was in violation of fundamental rights as it results in extraction of Rs2,000 from students which were exorbitant. He said the board authorities should be directed to inform under what law the requirement of B-form had been imposed, as there was no such law or notification. He said when birth certificate already showed the origin and nationality of the students why B-form requirement had been imposed on students who had to face immense difficulty.

A law officer said this was the board requirement as it was the prerogative of board to regulate the mechanism of 9th class exam. The judge after hearing the arguments reserved the judgment. Earlier, judge as an interim relief had allowed students of 9th Class to appear in education board’s examination without Nadra's B-form.
