Wasim hails Martin Crowe

BRISBANE: Pakistan legend Wasim Akram has hailed New Zealand’s Martin Crowe as one of the best players of reverse swing.
Reacting to news that the former New Zealand captain has been inducted to the ICC Hall of Fame, Wasim said that Crowe was one of the few batsmen in the world who handled Pakistan’s pace attack well.
“I remember that he was the best player in the nineties against reverse swing. He handled both Waqar (Younis) and I well when we toured New Zealand.
Wasim also heaped lavish praise on India’s Anil Kumble who was also inducted to the ICC Hall of Fame recently.
“How can I forget Kumble’s ten wickets against Pakistan as I was the last wicket,” he said here at Gabba.
Wasim said that it is passion and hard work that make a sportsman great.
“Both of them played with passion and worked hard which made them greats.”
Crowe, players of the World Cup back in 1992, became the third New Zealander, after Sir Richard Hadlee and Debbie Hockley, and the 79th overall to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
“I am extremely privileged to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, joining Sir Richard Hadlee and Debbie Hockley as the other New Zealanders to be awarded such a prestigious honour,” Crowe said.
