Four ‘terrorists’ killed in encounter
Four suspected terrorists were killed in an encounter with police in Shah Latif Town on Saturday.
According to SSP Malir Rao Anwar, a police team conducted a targeted raid after receiving a tip-off about the presence of a terrorist in Shah Latif Town. He said the terrorists attacked the police party with hand grenades and, subsequently, an shoot-out ensued that lasted for 20 minutes.
During the encounter, he said, four terrorists were killed. One of them was identified as Molavi Ishaq and the other one was former Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander Hakimullah Masood’s gunman, Nazar. The killed terrorists belonged to banned organisations TTP and the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.
They were also involved in the Karachi airport, the Mehran Airbase and several other attacks, he said, adding that the bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
