MULTAN: Former Punjab governor and PPP south Punjab president Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood has said that PPP is a secular party and practically against Talibanisation.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said, “We are completely against Talibanisation. We have a different party as compared to those who demanded opening the Taliban office in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and released millions of tax money of Pakistanis to Maulana Samiul Haq’s seminaries.” “Khadim-e-Aala is advertising the sugarcane buying at Rs180 per 40 kilogram but his own sugar mills are forcefully purchasing sugarcane at Rs150 per 40kg, which is extreme exploitation of the growers,” he lamented. Mehmood said the Sharif family days were numbered as Nawaz Sharif had reached his political conclusion. “The PML-N leadership has failed in providing relief to the people. The country is passing through critical juncture and the Nawaz league has isolated the country.”

He said the heart of Nawaz Sharif beats with Altaf Hussain and Sheikh Mujibur Rehman. “Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are continuously bashing the institutions. The entire world has decided to eliminate money laundering and Nawaz Sharif was convicted due to corruption.” The PPP leader said that most of the media in Punjab was consciously portraying a negative picture about the PPP. Media must acknowledge the role of PPP instead of continuously criticising it. The PPP held a historic public meeting in Multan but media was not ready to acknowledge the role of PPP. “Imran Khan does not even know how to make marriage, then how would he run the government. Making marriage is not a sin but scandalising marriage is a sin and he did the same.”

To a query, he said Nawaz Sharif should refrain himself from attacking the judiciary. The PPP did not hold a single protest when Yusuf Raza Gilani was disqualified. Mehmood said the demand of seeking resignations from Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah was directly linked to their abusive attacks on the institutions. He said the PPP had strongly condemned brutal murder of Zainab in Kasur.
