Politicians react to Imran’s marriage reports
LAHORE: Reports of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s third marriage started making rounds over the weekend, finally prompting the party to release an official statement saying the PTI chief had extended a marriage proposal to a woman named Bushra Maneka.
Sh Rashid Ahmad: PTI ally and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmad expressed ignorance of the matter.
“[I don’t know] if Imran Khan has married or not… it’s his personal matter. But if he has contracted marriage, it’s good for him!” remarked Sh Rashid.
Rana Tanveer Hussain: Federal Minister for Defence Production and Science and Technology Rana Tanveer congratulated the PTI chairman.
“Congratulations to him. He [Imran Khan] will marry one more time before the 2018 elections,” the minister jibed.
Hafiz Hamdullah: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F Senator Hafiz Hamdullah said that it needs to be investigated “whether Imran ruined anyone’s domestic life to tie the knot”.
“Imran is an expert of an offshore company and an offshore marriage as well,” he said adding that a Joint Investigation Team should be formed to investigate the matter.
Shahi Syed: Awami National Party (ANP) leader Shahi Syed was critical. “Imran Khan should not have [looked at] a woman he [consulted] for spiritual guidance [with such an intention],” he remarked.
Shireen Mazari: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader, Shireen Mazari, however rejected the reports.
“Ridiculous! When the SC deprives IK’s detractors of doing accusatory stories of corruption, they create stories of his marriage! Somewhat pathetic too!” she tweeted earlier.
Ameer Muqam: Advisor to Prime Minister Ameer Muqam has said Imran Khan is destined only to wear engagement rings and wedding sherwanis and not to become the prime minister. He has done hat-trick of marriages and don new sherwani of the year 2018.
Aajiz Dhamra: Pakistan People’s Party leader Aajiz Dhamra has said why Imran Khan is keeping it secret if he has solemnised a marriage. He said for keeping his marriages secret and telling lies about it, he is no more sadiq and ameen (honest and righteous).
Astrologist Mamun: Known astrologist Mamun has advised Imran Khan not to contract a marriage at the moment, as September would be a better time for him for the purpose. He said if he contracted marriage in haste, it could cause problems in his married as well as political life.
Pervaiz Khattak: PTI leader and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak has said no formal announcement is necessary if one contracts a marriage. He said if Imran Khan has contracted a marriage, he has done a good thing.
