FAISALABAD: Romanian Ambassador Emilian Ion has called for strengthening bilateral relations in the fields of agriculture and education to get benefit from each other expertise.
Talking to the University of Agriculture Faisalabad deans and directors here on Wednesday, he invited a delegation of the UAF experts to his country to explore the avenues of cooperation in the agriculture sector. He said that industry, education and agriculture played an important role in the process of uplift. He said that tangible researches were imperative to address the issues of the society. He said that Romania was enjoying good relations with Pakistan in education as Romanian teachers were teaching in Lahore. He said that a large number of Pakistan’s population was associated with the agriculture sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Parliamentary Secretary on Economic Affairs Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan said that all-out efforts were being made to further strengthening the bilateral ties and to promote trade. Under the federal government Pubic Sector Development Programme, Rs 1.6 billion had been earmarked for providing the state-of-the-art facilities to the UAF, he added. He said that education was a prerequisite to fulfil the dream of development.
UAF Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the university research portfolio had crossed the figure of Rs 2 billion. He said that the UAF was meant for the food security and rural development. He lauded the steps being taken by the government for promoting education.
