Young Rising Stars Women win soccer event
ISLAMABAD: Young Rising Stars Women FC wrest the honours with Diya FC ending up runners-up as the Right-To-Play and Total Football celebrated International Human Rights Day through the transformative power of sport.
The duo collaborated to bring together 12 teams from across the twin cities in a Human Rights Girls’ Football Tournament concluded the other day at the Total Football facility in Chak Shahzad.
Pakistan’s leading and pioneer women’s clubs participated, including the Young Rising Stars FC from Rawalpindi and DIYA FC that travelled all the way from Karachi to participate in the event.
The fun and football filled weekend was packed with nail-biting matches, amazing goals scored and saved, thrilling penalty shoot-outs and much more, as girls from different schools, colleges and football clubs enthusiastically participated. Families, friends and other spectators cheered on the girls as veteran footballers showcased impeccable footballing ability, while beginners’ kept pace with their dedication to improve.
Pakistan national women’s football team captain Hajra Khan led Young Rising Stars to victory, with DIYA FC ending up runners-up. Other national team players including Abiha Haider, Asmara Kiani, and Sahar Zaman also played in the tournament.
