43 Indian fishermen remanded to central prison
Arrested a day earlier, as many as 43 Indian fishermen were sent to the prison on a judicial remand by a local court on Friday.
The fishermen were arrested by the Docks police on Thursday and were produced before the Judicial Magistrate (West). The men told the court that they had mistakenly entered into the Pakistan’s territorial waters.
The police told the court that the fishermen were held and their eight fishing launches were seized for violating the provisions of the Fishing Act and Foreign Act. The court was further informed that the fishermen were arrested by the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) for alleged violation of the country’s territorial waters.
Sea View remand extended
The court of the judicial magistrate (South) extended by two days the remand of Sea View shooting incident’s main accused, Khawar Bunrey.
The Investigation Officer told the court that the Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) had accepted the two-day physical remand against Burney who was involved in the Sea View vehicle firing case.
He further stated that three of his co-accused are still at large and that it is imperative to interrogate the suspect to ascertain their whereabouts. The complainant in the case has moved an application in the court concerned to try the accused under the provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, dealing with the terrorist activities. The complainant said the accused had committed a terrorist activity by killing an innocent teenager, Zafir Zuberi, and injuring another one of his friends.
