ECP enabling disabled persons to exercise right of vote: CEC
ISLAMABAD: The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza, said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was taking measures to include maximum number of disabled persons in the electoral process.
Addressing a ceremony to mark the international day for people with disabilities here, he said various measures were being taken to encourage and facilitate persons with disabilities to exercise their right to vote. He also pointed out that the Election Commission of Pakistan reserved 2 per cent quota for disabled persons, and as many as 21 persons with disabilities were working with the Election Commission. Among other things, he noted that disabled persons could cast their vote through postal ballot as well while special arrangements would be made to facilitate such voters at polling stations as well.
