Shujaat, Pervaiz appear before NAB tomorrow
LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has summoned former prime minister Ch Shujaat Hussain and former Punjab chief minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi for Friday (tomorrow) in a case of having assets allegedly beyond their known sources of income. A senior National Accountability Bureau official seeking anonymity told The News that former PM and former CM have been summoned for Friday as they didn’t respond to performas handed over to them by the investigators when they previously turned up in Lahore office last month. He said details from both the cousins regarding properties, bank accounts, assets, of their wives, children and grand children have also been sought. Similarly, the official said various departments whom NAB had approached including Deputy Commissioners of Gujranwala, Gujrat, DG Lahore Development Authority, Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR), chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), etc. for seeking details of properties, land bank accounts, etc. owned and operated by them, have also responded back to the bureau with certain details. Leaders of their own party, Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q), would appear before a Combine Investigation Team (CIT) of NAB Lahore at around 10am. The case against Ch Shujaat and Ch Parvaiz was initiated by NAB back in 2000 but it remained in cold storage till November 2017. The bureau restarted the probe soon after the July 28, 2017 judgment of the Supreme Court on Panama case due to which former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified.
