Religious parties protest against Trump

Islamabad: Like other parts of country, the religious parties on call of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer Senator Sirajul Haq, the religious parties observed protest day in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad against US President Donald Trump’s announcement of declaring Jerusalem as capital of Israel.

The religious parties including JI, Pakistan Sunni Tehreek, Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC), Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen organised demonstrations in the federal capital and Rawalpindi after Jumaa prayers to denounce extreme step taken by the US administration.

JI Islamabad ameer Zubair Farooq Khan led a big demonstration at Aabpara which was participated by hundreds of workers and people from different walks of life. The protesters were carrying banners inscribed with calls for unity among Muslims and condemning declaration of illegally occupied Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Other leaders including Muhammad Sufyan Abbasi, Muhammad Kashif Chaudhry, Awais Aslam Mirza and others also addressed the protesters. The speakers welcomed strong stance taken by the Turkish president and hosting OIC summit in his country.

JI Rawalpindi district (rural) ameer Shamsur Rehman Swati and naib ameer Muhammad Taj Abbasi led a demonstration in Rehmatabad area after Jumaa prayers. The protesters raised full-throated slogans against President Trump and Israel.

Mufti Liaquat Ali Rizvi and Allam Waseem Abbasi led a protest demonstration by Pakistan Sunni Tehreek at Kalma Chowk, Ghouri Town. The speakers called for declaring Jehad against Israel while disapproving Trump’s announcement.

They said that declaring Jerusalem as Israel’s capital was also violation of international laws and resolutions of the United Nations. Similar protest demonstrations were also staged outside mosques in sectors I-8, G-7, F-7, F-8 and other residential and commercial areas of the federal capital.
