Ghulam Ali knocks ton as Pak Veterans record third win in Sri Lanka

KARACHI: Former ODI player Ghulam Ali scored a brilliant century to help Pakistan Veterans record a massive 145-run victory against Sri Lankan Veterans at the MCC Colts Cricket Ground in Colombo.

Sri Lankan Veterans’ captain won the toss and asked Pakistan Veterans to bat first. Ghulam Ali scored 112 runs off only 69 balls. Dastageer Butt resumed his brilliant form with the bat scoring 61 runs off only 40 balls. Usman Ali scored 44 runs and Zafar Ali added 28 runs. At the end of allotted 35 overs, Pakistan Veterans scored a massive score of 296 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

For Sri Lankan Veterans Ravi Subasingie took three wickets for 73 runs and Sanath Ravindra took two wickets for 47 runs.Sri Lankan Veterans in reply could only score 151 runs and were all out in the 29th over. Ravi Subasingie took top scored for the side with unbeaten 46 runs. Sanath Ravindra scored 34 runs.

From the Pakistan Veterans, skipper Fawad Ijaz Khan took three wickets for 48 runs in his seven-over spell. Iftikhar Ahmed took two wickets for 18 runs and Asim Jah, Khawaja Kaleem, Ashique Hussain Qureshi and Zubair Butt took one.

At the end of the match, Athula Wickramatilake, President Association of Cricket Umpires of Sri Lanka, gave the Man of the Match Cup to Ghulam Ali for his outstanding century.
