The NED University on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Italian Development Committee to initiate academic cooperation and collaborative programmes in the field of engineering
The pact was signed by IDC President Dr Tariq Ikram and Vice Chancellor NED Professor Dr Muhammad Afzal Haque and Professor Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi, dean civil engineering and architecture department.
Scope of the MoU are areas such as teachers and students exchange programmes, joint degrees, projects under various engineering disciplines at the NED, including infrastructure development, petroleum engineering, material engineering as well as Italian language classes and seminars and workshops inviting Italian researchers and academicians.
The IDC is an association of professionals from different industries and works under umbrella of the Italian government and government of Pakistan to promote trade and investment between the two countries, an IDC official stated. However, it was now also working on promoting educational cooperation. He said trade and investment cannot foster until and unless there was academic cooperation.
Italian Ambassador Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani and Vice Consul General in Karachi Giulio Iazeolla were also present at the signing ceremony.
