SBBWU lift Saad Shaheed T20 trophy

PESHAWAR: Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Friday won the thrilling final of the 3rd Mrs Saad Shaheed T20 Women Cricket Cup played here at the SBBWU campus ground.
SBBWU defeated Abbottabad on the last ball with one wicket in hand. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Abbottabad set a target of 83-run for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Kiran (35) and Salma Khan (21) played well for the losers.
For SBBWU, right-arm medium fast bowlers Afsheen, Nousheen Khan and Rohida got one wicket each. International cricketer Salma Faiz (35) also displayed her cricketing prowess. Nousheen and Komal scored 15 runs each for SBBWU.
It was Komal who turned around the game in the favour of SBBWU when her team was in need of 15 runs off 15 balls. She struck two straight boundaries and a boundary on the last ball to guide her side home.
Salma Khan and Rubab took two while Kalsoom and Ayesha grabbed one wicket each for Abbottabad. Salma was declared best player of the final. Ayesha, who scored 200 plus runs in the event, was declared best batter, Nousheed best fielder, Haseeba best wicket-keeper while Rubab (11 wickets) was named best bowler of the tournament.
KPK Youth Affairs Director General Asfandyar Khattak was the chief guest on the occasion. AIPS Asia Secretary General Amjad Aziz Malik, SBBWU Director Sports Maria Samin and a large number of spectators were also present.
Khattak announced Rs10,000 each for Salma Faiz and Ayesha while other players who performed exceptionally well in bowling, batting, wicketkeeping and fielding were awarded Rs5,000 each. The winning team pocketed Rs100,000 while runners-up bagged Rs50,000.
