QUETTA: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Headquarters Southern Command, Quetta, in connection with the execution of ‘Khushhal Balochistan’ (KHB) initiative.
The army chief and Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri were briefed in detail on the socio-economic and security environment and the plan for the execution of KHB. Provincial administration and military commanders were also present. The plan was discussed in detail, says a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The COAS said the army would provide full support to federal and provincial governments for the success of KHBKHB programme. He said that the programme in fact is ‘Khushhal Balochistan- Khushhal Pakistan’.
Few aspects required further deliberation at staff level which will be finalised accordingly in next few days. All aspects in security domain were approved by the COAS. Details of complete KHB initiative will be shared soon. The Balochistan chief minister appreciated contributions of security apparatus for improving stability in the province and support for execution of KHB plan.
Earlier, upon arrival, General Bajwa was received by Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa. Early in the day, Director General ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet that the ‘Khushhal Balochistan’ project is being launched, aimed at enduring stability through socioeconomic development and security in the province.
