Blood units sealed

Lahore :On the instructions of Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Kh Salman Rafique, Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority (PBTA) Secretary Dr Muhammad Athar visited Gujranwala and Mandi Bahauddin to inspect blood units of public and private sector.
The secretary took notice of provision of poor quality of blood to the patients. Shatik Blood Bank Services in Mandi Bahauddin was sealed due to its substandard practices, and its all blood transfusion activities were stopped immediately. Its registration was also cancelled. Dr Athar also issued directions for immediate improvement of Lifeline Blood Bank, Mandi Bahauddin.
The PBTA secretary sealed Jinnah Blood Bank and Al Qaim Blood Bank in Gujranwala. Poor quality blood bags from both units were also seized and discarded. Directions were issued to other public and private blood units.
Assumes charge: The first women associate professor in the field of neurosurgery in Punjab, Dr Fauzia Sajjad, has been appointed in Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences, Lahore General Hospital. She has been appointed as associate professor on regular basis. She has assumed the charge of her post. Dr Fauzia Sajjad had secured first position in competitive exam of Punjab Public Service Commission.
