Rawalpindi :The residents have pointed out that the stall holders in the weekly bazaars never follow the rate lists prepared by the concerned authorities and charge extra money by illegally categorising food products.

Zulfiqar Baig, a resident of B-Block, Satellite Town said the stall holders in the weekly bazaar in Satellite Town sell out the food products in various categories to avoid following the rate lists provided by the local administration.

According to the details, potato is being sold at Rs50 per kilogramme (kg), onion at Rs70 per kg; tomato at Rs200 per kg; lemon at Rs260 per kg; lady finger at Rs70 per kg; capsicum at Rs150 per kg; apple at Rs160 per kg; grapes at Rs200 per kg; and banana at Rs80 per dozen.

It is pertinent to mention here that with an aim to mint undue profit the shopkeepers are selling food items especially vegetables and fruit in sheer violation of the rate list issued by the local administration. But the shopkeepers also express their frustration for being forced to sell their products at a lower-than-market price.

Ismael Khan, a stall holder, said they often follow the price lists prepared by the local administration but sometimes it is not possible for them to sell the food products at their stalls on wholesale prices.
