ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday said that a former dictator was responsible for intolerance and now people were taking the law into their own hands.
A two-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Dost Muhammad Khan held hearing on a blasphemy case. During the hearing, Justice Dost Muhammad Khan remarked that a former dictator promoted intolerance in the society and now people take the law into their hands and act as petitioner, prosecutor and judge.
He said that it was unfortunate that teachers were not guiding children in the right direction. He said change would not take place only through promises and speeches. He said it was unfortunate that the people of all the institutions were trying to bring a change through words. He said that intolerance will keep growing until the institutions take responsibility.
After hearing the arguments of lawyers, the SC directed to release the blasphemy accused and ordered him to submit Rs100,000 surety bond. The court declared that the accused did not apparently commit blasphemy.
