Nawaz remembered CoD only after being ousted: Bilawal

CHINIOT: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said Mian Sahib (Nawaz Sharif) remembers the Charter of Democracy (CoD) only after being thrown out of Prime Minister’s office.

However, he warned, no deception or any ploy would work this time.

Addressing a rally in Chiniot, Bilawal said on Saturday his party was made to lose the 2013 elections under a pre-planned conspiracy, and warned that he would not allow anyone to rig elections this time.

He criticised the Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif, saying that the ousted premier was crying foul over being disqualified by the court. But he forgot how many times he himself was involved in getting the country’s prime ministers removed, he added.

About the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif by the apex court under Article 62 of the Constitution, he said sarcastically that a “spiritual son” has fallen victim to a law enacted by his “spiritual father”. Articles 62 and 63 were added to the Constitution by military dictator General Ziaul Haq, who had introduced Nawaz Sharif in politics.

The PPP chairman said Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan were two sides of the same coin. Neither of the two had the capability to solve Pakistan's problems, he added.

He said every PPP government had undertaken development projects for Chiniot city.

"The PPP had given a go-ahead to make Chiniot a district," he said. "The incumbent government is not worried about the people but, instead, they are busy in filling their coffers," he said.

The PPP chairman wondered whom Nawaz was sending a message with his power show.  He said his party workers were once again ready to defeat the PML-N in the general elections.

Bilawal asked Imran Khan as well what he had done for the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa ever since his party came to power in the province.  "In which area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are the rivers of milk and honey flowing?" he asked.

Bilawal said that if Imran Khan's Naya Pakistan consisted of a place where women were no longer safe, the Taliban were only estranged brothers and abuses were common, then the people would reject such an ideology.

"Both Nawaz and Imran have damaged the politics of this country," he alleged.

He urged the people not to be dismayed by Nawaz and Imran but told them to vote for the PPP in the next election.
