PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) head Aftab Sherpao said on Saturday that working for peace and protecting Pakhtuns’ rights topped the party’s agenda list if voted to power in the next general election.

This he said while addressing the party’s executive committee meeting here, said a press release.

QWP provincial chairman Sikandar Sherpao, provincial general secretary Hashim Khan Babar, office-bearers from different zones and districts were also present.

Sherpao said that Pakhtuns rendered sacrifices for Pakistan but they had not been given their due reward.

He said the aim of QWP was to serve Pakhtuns, whether the party was in power or in the opposition.

He said that QWP always wanted the completion of the constitutional tenure of the Parliament. He maintained the strengthening of democratic institutions would be instrumental in political and financial stability.

He said that due to the Panama scandal, longstanding issues of Pakhtuns such as loadshedding, merger of Fata into KP, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, etc were being ignored.

The meeting reviewed the current political situation and took certain decisions about the party’s organisational matters.

It endorsed the policies of Aftab Sherpao and hailed his role for

Pakhtuns and party. It was emphasised that Panama issue would no more rise the political confrontations and the Supreme Court verdict on the Panama case would help bring an end to the prevailing deadlock.
