A court on Wednesday convicted a man in the 2010 murder case of a 15-year-old girl and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

The District and Sessions Judge (East) found the convict, Abdul Sattar, guilty of murdering Zahida Bibi in the city’s Bahadurabad area in 2010. In the verdict, the judge ruled that the convict had committed the crime out of personal enmity.

The court stated that the prosecution had provided enough evidence to ascertain Sattar’s involvement in the murder and, along with the life sentence, imposed a fine of Rs200,000 on the convict.

Triple murder case

The District and Sessions Judge (West) convicted a man, Ovais Ahmed, of involvement in a 2011 triple murder and sentenced him to six years in jail.

The convict, Ahmed, is a companion of notorious Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker Rizwan Qureshi who was involved in the Baldia factory arson and is also wanted in this triple murder case.

According to the prosecution, Qureshi and Ahmed had killed Salahuddin and two more people in the Taimuria police limits in July 2011. The triple murder, the court ruled, was driven by political enmity. While Ahmed was sentenced to six years in prison, the court has declared Qureshi a proclaimed offender in the case and issued warrants for his arrest that would stand till the accused remained alive.
