73.75pc pass matric exam
LAHORE: Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore Tuesday announced the results of Secondary School Certificate (Matriculation) Annual Examination according to which overall pass percentage remained 73.75 percent.
The results were announced in a medal awarding ceremony organised for higher achievers at Alhamra which was also attended by Punjab School Education Minister Rana Mashhood and Punjab Information Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, toppers, their teachers and parents and the board’s official including its chairman.
It is pertinent to mention here that the position holders were announced on Monday evening and included overall topper Umer Tariq who secured 1087 marks, second position was shared by Soban Khalid and Aleesa Kaleem with 1086 marks each. The third position was shared by Muhammad Abdullah and Muhammad Abdullah Saleem with 1085 marks each.
As many as 226,619 students had appeared in the Matriculation exams from Lahore Board this year out of which 167,131 were declared successful. The toppers were awarded Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 cash prize besides gold, silver and bronze medals for first, second and third positions, respectively, while their teachers were awarded gold medals.
The ministers congratulating the students hoped that they would play their role in the progress of the country. It is pertinent to mention here that the results of Matriculation exams were simultaneously announced by all the nine BISEs of Punjab. According to details the pass percentage at BISE Gujranwala remained 79.15 percent, BISE Bahawalpur 76.90 percent, BISE Dera Ghazi Khan 80.70 percent, BISE Multan 81.68 percent (highest pass percentage among all the BISEs of Punjab), BISE Sargodha 80.33 percent, BISE Faisalabad 77.94 percent, Rawalpindi 77.72 percent and BISE Sahiwal 78.78 percent. Meanwhile Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has congratulated the students securing top positions of all the nine boards across the province. He said the students had made their parents and teachers feel proud by getting positions with their hard work and it was commendable that some of the students have got this position with their commitment, hard work and patience despite lack of resources.
Shahbaz Sharif congratulated the parents and teachers of the students and said that it was his conviction that hard work never goes waste in any walk of life. He said intelligent and bright students were precious assets and the future of Pakistan was attached with these students. The Punjab government will continue to provide necessary resources to train and educate such brilliant talent of our brilliant students who have ability to alter the course of history. He said education was the only ladder to progress and provision of resources for the promotion of education was a beneficial investment, adding Punjab government was implementing a comprehensive programme for the betterment of education sector and encouragement of the students.
