Action against illegal gas refilling centres demanded
Islamabad: The residents have demanded action against illegal refilling of gas cylinders and sale of diesel/petrol at temporary stalls in various areas especially those falling in the rural belt of the capital city.
The areas where business of illegal refilling of gas cylinders is being done include Golra, Ramna, Turnol, Koral, Khanna, Loi Bher, Sihala and Shahzad Town. Some of these illegal fillings stalls have been set up in the middle of the residential areas.
According to Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) Ordinance, the refilling of LNG cylinder is illegal and the federal and provincial governments have strictly instructed the district governments and police to end illegal business of gas refilling. "The refilling of gas cylinders is a dangerous act in congested areas, endangering the lives and properties of the citizens. We demand of the concerned authorities to take action and stop this illegal business from the residential areas," said Umer Aziz, a resident of Golra area.
