Rawalpindi :The residents of several localities of Cantonment areas were affected by continuous power breakdowns in their areas.

According to details, the power suspension process begun after fajr prayers and continued till maghrib prayers. During this period, Iesco resorted to power breakdowns after every 15 to 20 minutes in the localities of Adiala, Lalazar, Akram Shaheed Road, Aslam Colony, Sherzaman Colony, Dheri Hassanabad, Talhi Morri, Dhoke Juma, Ghousia Chowk, Kalma Chowk, Kamalabad, Dhoke Syedan, Ghaziabad Colony, Harley Street etc.

The people alleged when they tried to contact Iesco officials of the respective sub stations in Adiala, Tariqabad, Kalma Chowk, the phone numbers of their respective offices were continuously found busy.

Similarly, due to power breakdowns with regular intervals, the electrical appliances of the people of certain localities developed fault including computers, Laptops, ACs, mobile sets and refrigerators.

According to reports gathered through different sources, a day earlier, the problem of power suspension occurred in Adiala, Gulistan Colony, Morgah, Dhoke Juma etc and the people had voiced deep concern while protesting the move by Iesco. However, instead of rectifying the matter, the Iesco authorities particularly of the relevant sub stations irked the consumers of other localities on Sunday through power breakdowns with regular intervals from morning till evening.

The people of the affected localities have strongly demanded of the Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif as well as the related minister and chairman to take serious notice of the matter and conduct enquiry against the officials of the relevant sub stations as to why power breakdowns occurred and what was the pretext behind it. The people have also demanded action against the officials of the relevant sub stations where power suspensions occurred with regular intervals of 15 minutes.

Moreover, while reacting sharply to power outages at the pretext of shortage of power, the people questioned that if there is really any shortage of power then why the Iesco authorities did not resort to power loadshedding at the occasions of semi finals and final matches of the Champions Trophy of Cricket.

Besides the cricket lovers a large number of other people also kept their Televisions sets on to watch the semi finals and final match of Champions Cricket Trophy, resulting extra load on power. However, Iesco and other power bodies did not suspend electricity even during hours of loadshedding hours on these days.
