LPG plants to overcome fuel shortage in Chitral: MNA
CHITRAL: Member National Assembly Shahzada Iftikharuddin on Thursday said LPG plants were being installed to overcome fuel shortage in the district.
"The step will go a long way in protecting the depleting forest in the district," the MNA told a gathering after acquisition of land for the LPG plant in Drosh. Senior general manager Sui Northern Gas Company Limited Ejaz Ahmed, Engineer Sulat Rasheed and local leaders of various political parties were also present.
He said that survey had been conducted in Chitral and initially Drosh and Ayun had been selected for setting up of two LNG plants, adding more such plants would be established in the district gradually.
Shehzada Iftikharuddin said Prime Minister Nawaz was taking personal interest in carrying out development work in Chitral. He said that the federal government had spent Rs50 billion rupees during the past four years on two projects including the construction of Lowari Tunnel and 106-MW capacity Golen hydel power project in the far-off mountainous district.
He said that the two projects were in the final stages of completion, adding the federal government had allocated another Rs14 billion for construction of roads in Chitral in the fiscal budget for 2017-18. Speaking on the occasion, Ejaz Ahmad said that the LPG would be transported in giant gas tankers to ensure the commodity uninterrupted supply to the district.
