KARACHI: Pakistan stormed into the semi-finals of the 17th Asian Junior Squash Team championships when they beat Kuwait 2-0 at the National Squash Centre, Kuala Lumpur, on Friday.
Top seeds Pakistan easily defeated seventh seeds Kuwait in the quarter-finals.
Tayyab Aslam thrashed Khaled A H M Aljenaidel 11-2, 11-8, 11-1 in the first match.
Ali Bukhari smashed Eisa A Gh A Mohammad 11-2, 11-7, 11-5.
The defending champions Pakistan will face fourth seeds Hong Kong in the semi-final on Saturday (today).
The other two teams in the semi-finals are third seeds India and second seeds Malaysia.
Pakistan topped Pool A by defeating eighth seeds Korea and ninth seeds Singapore.
Pakistan also have the services of Asim Khan and Israr Ahmed. Fahim Gul is manager as well as coach of the team.
Pakistan have won this championship 13 times. They won the inaugural edition of the championships in Singapore in 1983. Pakistan did not take part in the 14th edition held in Chennai, India, in 2009.
