LAHORE: In terms of death toll, the Friday afternoon incident in a Shikarpur Imambargah happens to be the second deadliest in the history of Interior Sindh in over 50 years after the June 6, 1963 attack on an Ashura procession in Khairpur in which 118 Shia mourners, including many children, were killed and 12 were severely injured.
However, the menace of sectarian violence has also haunted numerous other Interior Sindh cities like Qambar (Larkana), Sukkur, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Shahadatkot, Tando Jam, Mirpur Khas, Dadu, Nawabshah, Sangarh, Nowshehro Feroze and Thatta since June 1963, meaning thereby that the monster of self-destructive communal violence continues to march unbridled in this part of Pakistan too.
