Kite-flying ban violated
LAHORE: Despite a ban on kite flying in the provincial capital, partial violation of the law was witnessed in populated areas during the last three days.
Enthusiasts of the sport were spotted flying kites in various parts of the city. Areas where citizens violated the ban included Mozang, Lytton Road, Samanabad, Nawan Kot, Millat Park, Ichhara, Subzazar, Lower Mall, Ravi Road, Badami Bagh, Nawankot, Badamibagh, Shadbagh, Shalimar, Mughalpura, Islampura, Harbanspura, Shera Kot, Factory Area, Ghaziabad and Iqbal Town.
Meanwhile, Lahore police claimed to have arrested dozens of people on charges of kite flying. 264 traffic violators booked: Punjab Highway Patrol registered 264 cases against commuters on various violations.
PHP teams registered 254 cases against traffic violators and impounded two motorcycles with fake registration number plates. PHP teams arrested three bootleggers and five others and recovered gas cylinder, 100 litres of petrol and 200-kg unhygienic meat from their possession.
