PESHAWAR: Former prime minister and senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Raja Pervez Ashraf Thursday said Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was a major political party in Karachi and PPP would take it along despite all the political differences.
Speaking to reporters at the Peshawar Press Club, Pervez Ashraf said that MQM was an ally of the PPP in the previous government and would remain with the party despite the differences over some issues in Sindh.
He said terrorism was the real issue the country had been facing since long, adding that the decisions taken during the All Parties Conference (APC) should be implemented in letter and spirit to get rid of the menace of terrorism. He said the government should further amend the laws relating to the establishment of the military courts so the terrorism could be flushed out once and for all.
Criticising the federal government, he said the government was constantly increasing the power tariff despite decline in the prices of fuel which was totally injustice. He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had promised the masses to overcome the energy crisis if came into power but failed to honour the commitment after making into the corridors of power. He said the government should pass on the benefit of the decrease in prices of petrol to the masses.
