A 28-year-old security guard of an apartment building in Garden area, was found dead with his throat slit inside his apartment near the Government High School in Patel Para on Tuesday.

The guard was identified as Tariq Shah by SHO Jamshed Quarters police station; the SHO said Shah hailed from Kohat and had come to Karachi for work.

Jamshaid Quarters police told The News that the police was informed of the presence of a dead body inside an apartment’s third floor.

They shifted his body to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination. SHO Inam Junejo said the medico-legal examiner’s report suggested that he was brutally tortured before his throat was slit with a sharp object.

SHO Junejo added that, “Tariq was residing in Patel Para with his relatives where he was found dead.” The SHO stated that none of his family members spoke of Tariq’s enmity with anyone. However, the police were suspecting personal enmity behind the murder; findings of the probe were vowed to be made public upon completion.
