Food packages distributed

PESHAWAR: The Ummah Welfare Trust distributed Ramazan food packages among 80 poor and needy families at an event held in Ghundo Shamozai village in Katlang tehsil in Mardan.

The beneficiaries included widows, orphans, disabled, poor patients and madrassa students, and those with no means of income. They belonged to a number of villages, including Shamozai, Matha, Shero, Landay Shah, Badar Banda, Pailagay, Inzargai, Arhatona, Ghundo, Mian Khan, Charchor, etc.

The distribution ceremony was held at the hujra of senior journalist Rahimullah Yusufzai. It was also attended by local elders including former lawmaker Rahim Khan Bacha, Malik Shaukat and Noorul Haq.

The Shama Welfare Organization, a local non-governmental organization of volunteers, had identified the beneficiaries with help from elders and elected nazims and councillors and made arrangements for the distribution of Ramazan packages.

Zamin Nawab, Mansoor Khan and Mudassir Khan of the Shama Welfare Organization, Rahim Khan Bacha and Rahimullah Yusufzai addressed the ceremony and highlighted the importance of Zakat and philanthropy for helping the poor and the needy. They praised the Ummah Welfare Trust for doing charity and welfare work with the help of donations collected in Pakistan and abroad. They reminded that the Ummah Welfare Trust had also provided winter kits to 45 needy families in the area in the past and donated 16 wheel-chairs for disabled men, women and children.

Every year in the holy of Ramazan, the Ummah Welfare Trust arranges the distribution of food packages for the poor people in different parts of the country. The packages includes rice, sugar, tea leaves, pakora flour, vegetable oil, pulses, spices, salt, powdered milk, matchboxes, etc.
