CM approves Rs120m for LGH

CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved funds of Rs120 million for the upgradation of Liver and Gastroenteritis Department in Lahore General Hospital.
Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Prof Anjum Habib Vohra said that Liver & Gastroenteritis Department of the hospital would be upgraded at a cost of Rs120 million and new medical equipment would also be provided. Head, Liver and Gastroenteritis Department Prof Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab said the provision of a huge amount of Rs120 million reflected personal interest of Chief Minister towards health sector development. He said the facilities already given to the patients would be improved by upgrading the department. He said that liver and gastroenteritis diseases were increasing rapidly in country and special measures were needed to control these diseases and for this purpose, prevention and awareness of the masses was one of the most effective tolls.
NOTICE: Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the news item regarding kite-flying in some areas of Lahore and sought a report from administration and police. He ordered that strict implementation of the ban on kite-flying be ensured and legal action be taken against the violators without any discrimination. He said violation of the ban on kite-flying will not be tolerated.
School Block: On the special instructions of the chief minister, a new block is being constructed in Government Boys High School Chakri Rajgan, which will be named after a resident of district Jhelum, Mahar Ali Azam Shaheed who was martyred in Peshawar tragedy. This was stated by DCO Jhelum Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghuman and GOC Jhelum Maj-Gen Sher Afgan at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the new block. Father of Mahar Ali Azam Shaheed, Kausar Ijaz, EDO Education Jhelum, teachers and students of Government High School Chakri Rajgan were also present on the occasion. Mahar Ali Shaheed Block will be constructed at a cost of Rs5.066 million within three months under the supervision of district administration. Maj-Gen Sher Afgan announced a donation of Rs100,000 for the construction of Mahar Ali Shaheed Block. Zulfiqar Ali Ghuman said that Peshawar tragedy had united the nation and all institutions were striving for elimination of terrorism from the country with public support. GOC Jhelum Maj-Gen Sher Afgan said the purpose of construction of Mahar Ali Shaheed Block in Government High School Chakri Rajgan was to pay tributes to the martyr of Peshawar tragedy. Father of Mahar Ali Shaheed, Kausar Ijaz and the residents of Chakri Rajgan thanked district administration for the construction of Mahar Ali Shaheed Block in Government High School Chakri Rajgan.
terror: Shahbaz Sharif has said that terrorists committed worst barbarity against innocent children and teachers in Peshawar but due to the sacrifices of the martyrs, the whole nation has united in the war on terrorism. All citizens will have to play their role for eliminating terrorism and setting up a peaceful society. He said the brutal elements playing with innocent lives would not be able to escape deterrent punishment and that collective decisions taken for eradication of terror were yielding positive results, which would help to win the war on terror. Talking to a delegation of the PML-N office-bearers here Monday, the chief minister said the dream of progress and prosperity of the country could not be realised without the elimination of terror, extremism and sectarianism. He said peace was essential for promotion of investment and problems like poverty and unemployment could be resolved only through strengthening the process of investment and industrialisation in the country. He said political sagacity, wisdom, bold leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the courageous decisions taken by the national leadership will eliminate terror from the country. He said national action plan was a joint and effective strategy to cope with terrorism, extremism and sectarianism. He said the Punjab government was taking all necessary measures in the province under the national action plan and its full implementation was being ensured for eradicating terrorism. He said he firmly believed that all problems could be overcome with determination and Pakistani nation expressed its resolve to eradicate terrorism on permanent basis.
