KARACHI: National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) has termed the Baku experience very satisfactory for its shooters.

Executive Vice President NRAP Razi Ahmed Khan told ‘The News’ that besides winning two medals their shooters were finalists in many categories.

“The finalist is a medal contender in shooting, so only medals don’t completely reflect performance in this sport,” said Razi.

He said that the shooters’ performance was far better than Pakistan players in other disciplines.

He said that there were two finalists in Rapid Fire Pistol.  “Two out of three were finalists in Air Pistol, there were two finalists in 3 Position rifle, and they missed with minor difference the finals of Free Pistol.

“Many of our players grabbed fourth positions. It proves their performance was quite satisfactory. Our two athletes were finalists in their respective events although they were injured,” said Razi.

He added that the shooters performed well in spite of the fact that they were participating for the first time in Islamic Games.

“I hope that the next time we will do much better in the games,” said Razi.

Talking about activity in the remaining period of this year, he said: “We are holding a memorial event in August in Karachi. In September, we have an event in Jhelum. Then in October, we have the National Games and one event is to be held in Lahore in November. In December, we will have CNC national championship,” said Razi.
